The Colorado Springs Early Colleges (CSEC) is seeking qualified individuals to apply for teaching positions within our charter high school. The Colorado Springs Early Colleges will hire an additional math teacher, a Spanish teacher, and an English teacher for our 2008 – 2009 school year. Open Positions:
Full time positions teaching high school students:

Qualifications:
All persons teaching at the Colorado Springs Early Colleges must have prior experience working with teenagers. They must be able to relate well with teenagers, be expert in active listening, have a passion for working with students at all skill levels, and be highly teachable.
Persons interested in teaching at the Colorado Springs Early Colleges must be highly qualified under the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. At a minimum these persons must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the subject they wish to teach with at least 24 semester credit hours in their major, or have passed the state’s Place Test. A professional teacher’s license is not required to teach at the Early Colleges.
All persons employed by the Colorado Springs Early Colleges must pass a background check, including submitting fingerprints for evaluation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. We will also require at least three letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a current or recent supervisor.
Duties:
Full time teachers at the Colorado Springs Early Colleges will teach four to five 70-minute periods in the day, and provide for student advising during one of those periods each week. Teachers will be required to attend the Colorado Springs Early Colleges Summer Institute, a 2 week team building and planning session held during the summer, from August 4th through August 16th. There is additional compensation provided to every teacher for attending the Summer Institute. Teachers will be expected to be at school from 7:45 until 4:30 each day, and will work a school year that will typically run 182 school days, ending just before Memorial Day each year. (The school calendar is available on the CSEC website).
There are also expectations that teachers will participate in our Outdoor Fitness Program, including some evening Intramural Events.
Compensation and Benefits:
Full time teachers will be compensated for the teaching year based upon their individual credentials, experience and skill. Our salary expectations are that we will pay our teachers well above the average salary one might receive in any public school in our community. We will also offer our full time teaching staff access to group health care and other such benefits, and will pay the first $250 of the costs for such coverage.
All teachers will be subject to PERA deductions and will participate in the PERA retirement program.
All teachers will also be able to participate in the Colorado Springs Early Colleges Merit Pay Program throughout the teaching year.
Reporting Relationships:
All teaching positions will report to the Colorado Springs Early Colleges Academic Dean.

The Hiring Process:
Once we have received your entire application packet, we will email a confirmation message to you that will let you know that your application has been received and is complete. Over the next few weeks we will evaluate applicants for potential fit within our staff. Those applicants that appear to have a strong fit with our team will be invited to our school for interviews. From those interviewed, we will select some who will be invited to join our team. We will post on our website when openings have been filled.
