Full-time Students
Most of CSEC’s students are full-time students taking College Prep classes, College classes or a combination of College Prep and College classes on our CSEC/CTU campus.
Part-time Students
Some CSEC students find a valuable opportunity to be a part time student.
Part-time Students:
- are Juniors or Seniors. (All Freshmen and Sophmores are full time students.)
- are enrolled in an academic program (private school or homeschool) apart from CSEC.
- take less than seven college credit hours each semester.
- complete the same enrollment process as full time students.
- do not graduate from CSEC.
- will receive a limited transcript that shows only classes taken through CSEC.
Pikes Peak Community College and University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
Enrollment – PPCC & UCCS
Some CSEC students take advantage of our PSEO Off-Campus Program by taking classes at PPCC or UCCS. Some students take all of their classes away from CSEC’s campus. Other students supplement their CSEC Campus classes with one or two off-campus classes. Both full time and part time students may take classes at PPCC or UCCS.
Full-time students who take classes at PPCC or UCCS may graduate with CSEC and will receive a full transcript at time of graduation.
All new students are encouraged to take their classes on campus. However, new students who are mature and independant and who have a great support system at home may apply for an exception to this policy.
Accuplacer Facts
Accuplacer is a test that is used by colleges and universities to place students appropriately into classes within their institutions.
Colorado Springs Early Colleges uses this test as a first step in our placement process. Mainly, it helps us identify students who might be ready to take college courses. Further, it helps us place students in appropriate college-prep courses.
The Accuplacer Test is a placement test, NOT an entrance exam.
It is impossible to fail the Accuplacer Test!!
The Accuplacer is a computer-based, individualized test. Test takers are moved through the test according to how they answer individual questions. Two students taking the test at the same time will not experience identical tests.
On average, students complete the Accuplacer in about 90 minutes. However, many do not take that long and some take more than 2 hours.
Students will receive the results of the test immediately upon completion of the test.
11th and 12th graders who place below 090 (high school equivalency) will need to meet with an advisor before acceptance.
Students who test college ready in math must have passed Algebra II (or higher) in the 2009-10 school year to qualify as college ready.
Students who test college ready in English must write a proctored essay to further determine college readiness. This essay may be completed at the same time as the Accuplacer test, or at a different time.
Many free Accuplacer practice tests are available online. (Do an internet search for Accuplacer practice test.)
Please call Melissa at 955-4675 to sign up for testing.
Sorry, we cannot accomodate walk-ins.
