The Early Colleges Connection Program

The Early Colleges Connection Program at CSEC allows students the opportunity to enroll on a half time student basis.  CSEC recognizes that there are students who are completing their high school diploma through a method other than a public high school.  It also recognizes that many of these students can receive value from CSEC giving the opportunity to take college level courses through CSEC.

Student Responsibilities

  1. Students must currently be enrolled in home schooling, and be in their sophomore or junior year of high school.
  2. Students must demonstrate themselves “college ready” as measured by the Accuplacer test before their enrollment in CSEC will be confirmed.  This will also allow CSEC to place the student in the appropriate college courses.
  3. The student must enroll in CSEC in the fall semester of the school year and take at least a 3 semester or 4.5-quarter hour course.
  4. If approved by their CSEC academic advisor, a half time student at CSEC will be allowed to take no more than 13 semester hours (20 quarter hours) of college credit courses in a school year.
  5. Students will be given the opportunity to attend courses during the evening with approval of their academic advisor.
  6. Students must receive a grade of a C or better on all college courses.

Colorado Springs Early Colleges Responsibilities

  1. CSEC will notify, schedule and pay for the Accuplacer test.
  2. CSEC will advise each student of the outcome of the test and structure an Individual Learning Plan with each student and their parents.
  3. CSEC will work with the college or university to schedule the student into the appropriate courses that the Individual Learning Plan determines will be taken.  The college courses may be taken from Colorado Technical University, Pikes Peak Community College or the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
  4. CSEC will encourage students to take the courses outlined for transfer in the gt pathways structure.
  5. CSEC will pay for all tuition, fees and textbooks for the college courses.  Students must get pre-approval for text book purchases.
  6. Each student will receive advising that will enable them to be successful in their college courses
