Revised Dress code policy for the second semester 2011-2012 school year.
Dress Code – Dress for Respect
A student dress policy is an essential aspect of creating a school environment that is safe and conducive to learning and free from unnecessary disruption. During the school day students shall adhere to a standard of dress and appearance that is appropriate.
CSEC establishes the following guidelines to define an appropriate dress code. It is the desire of the leadership of CSEC to have modest dress standards that are defined and enforceable.
During mandatory Student Orientation days, students and parents will be made aware of what is expected for a dress code. The dress code will be enforced beginning with the first full day of the school year.
Dress Code Guidelines
1. Shorts, dresses, or skirts must touch the top of the knee cap when standing.
2. Shirts must have sleeves (no tank tops, spaghetti straps or exposed undergarments).
3. Shirt necklines must be no lower than three closed fingers below the collar bone/base of the neck and no cleavage shall be exposed. Clothing must cover the stomach, breast, midriff, buttocks, and underwear.
4. If a scarf is worn as an accessory, the top and scarf combination must be within the dress code. If the student removes the scarf, the under layer shirt or blouse must conform to the dress code height.
5. Hoodies, sweaters and other outerwear are considered a shirt or blouse and not an accessory and must meet the dress code. If outerwear is open, the under layer must meet the dress code height requirement.
6. Inappropriately sheer or loose clothing may not be worn.
7. Pants or jeans need to be worn no lower than the hipbones making sure that no underwear or skin is shown when sitting. The pants or jeans cannot have holes or tears. Leggings may be worn only under pants, shorts, dress or skirt that complies to dress code.
8. Clothing, paraphernalia, grooming, jewelry, hair coloring, accessories, or body adornments that contain any words, symbols, or pictures which include the following are inappropriate:
a. Reference to drugs, tobacco, alcohol, weapons or gangs
b. Are of a sexual nature
c. Are obscene, profane, vulgar, lewd, legally libelous, distracting, or dangerous
9. Underwear as outer wear, pajamas, or slippers may not be worn. Gym clothes and sweats can be worn only during PE classes.
10. Sunglasses, hats, hairnets, do rags, beanies, hoods or bandanas may not be worn inside the buildings.
11. Casual days include sweats and gym shorts of the proper length.
12. This policy will apply to all CSEC students taking courses on the CSEC/CTU campus.
Enforcement
1. Designated staff-hall monitors in each building and random checks performed by Student Success Department, before school during passing periods and during lunches.
2. The hall monitors will be trained appropriate enforcement.
3. Teachers will give student referrals in their class and send them to the office whenever the teacher deems it appropriate relative to the class activities for the day. Disruptions to classroom education should be at a minimum for teachers and students.

3. Third Offense
a. XL official dress code T-shirt.
After school detention will be required in accordance to the discipline code policy.
Dress Code Goal
Colorado Springs Early Colleges wants a dress code that is modest and easy to follow. School leadership, staff, students and parents must work together. The mission of Colorado Springs Early Colleges is to give each student a quality education. Everyone desires that education of students be the main focus.
