                                          1.  The budget for the 2008-2009 school year is 360 full                                                                 time students and 20 part time students or the combination of the                                              two.    

                                         2.  Modification of JABA – Child Nutrition Program:  The price of                                              CSEC breakfast will be $1.60 for breakfast and $3.00                                                                               for lunch and .40 for reduced lunch.  For adults it will be $2.25 for                                               breakfast and $3.50 for lunch.

                                          3.  Modification of GCS – Professional Time Off Policy:  Sick Bank                                              Program

Deborah Hendrix- Deborah currently is the Secretary of the Harrison School District Board.  She is known for her commitment to having all students in the district achieve proficiently at grade level.  She also has a major emphasis on every student learning to read.  She has supported educational choice; her two daughters attend James Irwin Charter Schools in the district.  She has been an executive with Junior Achievement, has her own Training & Consulting business, and currently does training for Dale Carnegie.  Deborah has experience working in the area of leadership and career development, diversity management and board development.  She has trained thousands of employees in the areas of people management, customer service, customer-focused selling, new employee orientation, meeting and project management and a host of other topics.  Deborah is an event planner and has executed week-long staff conferences and regional trainings for over 500 + attendees on a yearly basis.  She has managed both people and financial resources.

Peter Beinetti – Peter has a wide range of experience in management, having been a corporate executive for a fortune 500 company for many years, and the head of his own management consulting firm.  He has spent over 20 years, nearly half of his corporate experience, focusing on the creation and implementation of leading edge development programs to optimize the abilities of corporate executives around the world. After a short early retirement, Peter became part of the executive team of a worldwide franchise organization that was expanding to the USA, and has helped that company become one of the fastest growing franchises in the country.

Michael Valdez - Mike is currently opening new real estate offices with his wife Marcy. They have lived in Colorado Springs for 17 years; they have 3 children Michael, Brandon, and Emily. They have owned and operated their own insurance agency for over 20 years.  This experience will be very beneficial to the school as insurance costs are a major portion of the budget. Mike has developed many contacts over the years of living in Colorado Springs with the Hispanic community, both through his personal and business relationships.   Mike has been a coach and mentor in the sales and marketing field for over 10 years. Mike is very excited about this opportunity to be involved in starting Colorado Springs Early College and the opportunity it will give our youth.

Ed Jones – Ed brings to the board of Colorado Springs Early Colleges an outstanding career of governmental service.  He was elected as an El Paso County Commissioner and served for eight years and was first elected in 1994.  It was while he was a Commissioner he began championing his work for students and those who have been left behind so often in our society.  He was elected to the Colorado Senate from District 11 in 2002.  He served on the Education, Local Government Labor and Legal Services Committees.  Senator Jones also was Vice Chair of the Education Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council.  He was instrumental in passing several bills that had a positive and specific impact on K-12 education.  He graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2002 with a degree in Business Management.

Pat Pace – Pat’s brings a rich background of educational expertise to the Board of Colorado Springs Early Colleges.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Rockmont College located in Lakewood, Colorado and a second Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Western State College in Gunnison Colorado.  She obtained her  Colorado teaching certificate while attending Western State College and has been active in the home school movement here in Colorado.  She has used a variety of educational approaches to home schooling her four children including on-line education.  Her experience will be very valuable to Colorado Springs Early Colleges with our Early College Connection program to reach out to those students who would like to attend Colorado Springs Early Colleges half time.

Bob Van Cleave – Bob’s background includes a wide range of senior management/operational experiences.  He has over 25 years of experience building/managing systems and programs in urban and rural settings workings with diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups.  Bob was Director of Human Services-Children/Families for ten years in El Paso County.  He established Project Redirect, an intervention program for troubled teens and is the founder of the Center on Fathering, a center for healthy male parenting.  He was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Pike’s Peak Mental Health and Outstanding Public Administrator by the American Society for Public Administration.

Darrel Madsen – Darrel is a native of Colorado being born in Baca County.  He met Barbara Pence at Swink High School and married her two years after graduating.  Darrel graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas.  He pastored churches in Colorado and also in Lawrence, Kansas where he served as Campus Pastor at Kansas University.  For the past fifteen years Darrel has been involved with the Children’s Ark which has three residential treatment centers for abused and neglected children.  They provide treatment for 95 boys and girls, ages nine to eighteen.  Darrel currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Listed below are the persons who are the initial planners and members 

of the Board of Colorado Springs Early Colleges.

 

1. Keith King – Keith has served on the School Board of Cheyenne Mountain School District, Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy, served four terms in the Colorado House of Representatives, and was appointed to the National Assessment Governing Board by Secretary Paige.  He also has served on the Colorado League of Charter Schools board for over nine years.  He has written the application for two successful charter schools in the Colorado Springs area, Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy and James Irwin Charter High School.  During his service in the Colorado Legislature he carried over a dozen house bills effecting charter schools in the state.


2. Glenn Englund - Glenn is currently a high school math teacher at Cheyenne Mountain High School. He has developed a unique program call Math Masters which he has implemented at Cheyenne Mountain High School that allows for individual pacing of students to improve their math skills and understanding.  He is also an adjunct faculty member at Pikes Peak Community College where he teaches remedial math.  Glenn also brings a diverse background in business management and extraordinary team leadership, having spent well over 20 years as a senior corporate executive in several software firms.
